I've come to a decision!
I will finally be taking part in Inktober.
However, I've decided to kill two birds with one stone with it. Well... actually it's 3 birds. You see, I always mean to do Inktober, but then never do for one reason or another. So I'm finally doing it (there's 1 bird). After unppacking my bureau, I found a bunch of ink pots I acquired off of my dad quite some time ago now, and never used. Time to finally use them (there's 2 birds)!
And finally, remember a few journals ago I was talking about doing a series of drawings on games that mean a lot to me personally?
Drawing series?Heys...
....Yeah, I'm still living out of boxes and am doing terrible at this whole 'adult life' business
However, I just got a new scanner!
Down side is it's only A4, but it does mean I can carry on with comics and can carry on with my portrait works. On that note, I've decided I want to do a series of drawings of characters from video games that are close to me personally, like games I couldn't imagine my life without. The media for these will vary from thing to thing, some may be crayon, some may be paint, some may even be Copic Ciao, we'll see!
What games will I do? Well.... wait and see! Seeing as it's close to me personally games, most will probably be older games or ongoing series. For example, no secret that the love of my gaming life is Sonic (actually got properly depressed yesterday at someone saying something bad about Sonic Adventure 2 Battle), but what other games have touched me in the past? Stay tuned to find out
...by the way, no idea when this i
The bird! I'm gonna do that!
So what do I mean when I say
My Games?
It's pretty simple actually.
They're games that I am attatched to on another level. I mean, for example, yeah I enjoy playing Resident Evil. It's a game series I really enjoy from 4 onward, with 4 being my all time favorite. Leon is gorgeous and the CGI films that tie in with the games are fantastic, I really enjoy them... However, as much as I like it, it hasn't exactly reached me on that other level, and whilst I will defend it from people who don't like it, I'll give up easy. Also, Leon, yeah gorgeous, but not enough to go on the list
However, take (and this is on the list) take Starfox for example. I had Starwing on the SNES.... wait, I STILL have Starwing on the SNES! Absolute classic! Oh I played it for hours on end as a kid, and watched my brother play it too (he was much better at it then me so I got to see later levels that I never got too), it was a 3D game on a 2D console, it was very advanced for its time. I adored it, and games that came after! Starfox Adventures? What's with all the hate? It's one of the better games on the Gamecube easily! And yes, I have played Starfox Zero. You don't like the controls? Well then you're terrible at the game 'cause I got along just fine! And look how pretty it all is! Yeah, it would've been nice to have a different story, but It's bringing my beloved Starwing into a modern era! Get ready for my picture of Fox and his Arwing!
There you have it. It's that passion I feel when I think or talk about them. It's those memorable moments that stick with me. It's what the game/series means to me over what the game necessarily is... That's what makes a game one of My Games.
...I dunno if you get it, it's actually kinda hard to explain
So, what have I done for Inktober? I've made a list of 30 games/series that are My Games, and put them in a random picker (Btw, I know there's 31 days on October, got something else planned for the 7th
), and got my order of games to draw and ink. Now, I must warn, I'm extremely out of practice when it comes to drawing at the min. Spent all my free time the last few months making cosplays and playing Switch (like seriously, a new Switch game has come out every month that I've wanted!), so I haven't actually drawn in a while. As I explained earlier with the birds, I've been wanting to experiment with these inks for a while now but haven't, so I'm hoping we'll see progress in them as we go along too. Basically what I'm saying is give me the first few days to get into my stride, and we'll get there in the end!
